Out of all the mushrooms that we have had the pleasure to work with, the Reishi Mushroom, is without question our favourite!
Reishi Mushrooms (Ganoderma lucidum) also known as The Queen of Mushrooms are polypore mushrooms that grow at the base of deciduous trees. Can be easily recognized in nature by their glossy like reddish-brown kidney shaped caps.
Reishi mushrooms are now quite commonly cultivated by commercial and home growers alike. They are then harvested, dried or extracted and consumed in a variety of different ways. Such as in capsules, powders, teas and tinctures. The extraction process is essential to increase the bioavailability of the mushroom.
Within these mushroom, there are several molecules, including triterpenoids, polysaccharides and peptidoglycans, that may be responsible for its health effects.
They also contain dietary fiber, various minerals, vitamins and amino acids.
